TLS Antitrust Clearance & Merger Enforcement Virtual Conference

TransPerfect Legal Solutions (TLS) is excited to host our inaugural conference on Antitrust Clearance & Merger Enforcement. The virtual conference will examine two key topics. Our lineup of expert panelists will explore the potential impact of the 2020 elections on the M&A market and regulatory environment. We will illustrate how to manage ever-increasing data volumes in the context of a “second request,” civil investigative demand, or foreign competition proceeding. From data collection through document review, we will probe how to integrate advanced analytics and AI throughout the antitrust ediscovery process to achieve higher quality, faster, and more cost effective results.

Keynote Address by Todd Buchholz

Todd Buchholz, former White House director of economic policy, managing director of the $15 billion Tiger hedge fund, commentator on NPR's "Marketplace," and Harvard economics teacher, led us through a macro look at the M&A forecast for 2021 and beyond, diving deeper into the impact of COVID-19, the upcoming election, and more. In addition to his experience in the White House, on Wall Street, and in the classroom, Buchholz is a frequent guest on ABC News, PBS, and CBS. He also recently hosted his own special on CNBC, and even co-produced the Broadway hit “Jersey Boys”.

Session 2: Deploying Advanced Analytics and AI to Manage Big Data in a Merger Review Proceeding

Second requests and competition proceedings require comprehensive document productions on accelerated timelines. In the Big Data era, the scope and timing of these proceedings create substantial obstacles for compliance and budgets. This panel demonstrated how to “fight fire with fire”—that is, how to deploy cutting-edge technology to combat ever-growing data volumes and constantly evolving data sources, and achieve success in competition matters.

Session 3: Optimizing Quality and Efficiency in a Second Request Document Review through Technology-Enabled Workflows

The most burdensome aspect of any discovery project is document review. In second requests or other competition proceedings, the expedited deadlines render traditional document review non-viable. This panel explained how to design a technology-driven process to optimize the speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of second request document review projects.
